Plant them when everybody all come to a Friday afternoon edition of your most creative in the moment. Is your f.m. voice f.m. voice after we were on calf country radio this morning on 99.7 f.m. Flagstaff.
I’m ready yes I can do the entire in our own why do you have radio voice Ok I’m going to give you control and I’m looks like the United States and audiophiles and I go help that you know why don’t you help with their audio issue All right folks so we are going to talk about Linked In let’s get out our note pads.
Just so you see it this is marketing tip number one if you’re doing webinars or any time you’re presented. We had a nice wonderful conversation with our lawyer that said you know you need to protect your intellectual property with all rights reserved slide.
So here’s ours if you need an All Rights Reserved slide feel free to send us an e-mail invoice you off creative you look at that e-mail address several times.
They want to slide we’ll send it to you you strip out our information you put in your information you send it to your lawyer and then you have your all rights reserved for you.
Our world has changed and what was really cool last year was me noticed all of the sites that track Internet usage went up and for business folk one of those sites that when they went to a lot more often than.
Here is what we learned from 2020. Going back to Charles Darwin in his book On The Origin of Species it’s not the strongest that survive or the smartest but the ones that can adapt yes to what’s really cool about that for you.
Is that you’re a small and we know if you watch or are as you are a small business owner the fine folks at Dell Monday or you know an epicure large company within their 1st interstate bank which is no longer 1st are saved but that’s their talent in this photo they’re not coming to us it small business owners and that’s how we approach everything from we take what the large big folk are doing and we make it work for a small business or.
To the earth avers others of our Fortune 500 business but you are and they’re not so congratulations Here’s what we talk about today we have a bit of a front marketing what I want we’re marketing 30 on if you.
Where we talk about creating your targeted message because. We’re going to show you how to set up a page and all all approaching your profile has to have but then you’ve got to start posting.
Every day and if you’re not if you don’t have your targeted message out of the right client then it’s kind of just like any marketing tactic used improperly. So we’re going to go through the targeted more market message I am already out of I know I was here when I was yet but it is Friday afternoon I am out of work.
So I firmly believe that we all get just a set number of words per day per week per month and yesterday afternoon ended the week later in the mob I just feel like we’re out of words so we are perhaps not fluid as we have been if you’ve been in ours clearly maybe we’re just here for your amusement Surely you are not sending this video to the secret code.
Because we have business cards because coaches need coaches and we’re small business owners we have to have. This file I don’t believe things I really don’t need I don’t need that kind of use in my world.
All right you can see on your screen you know we’re going to talk about let’s get to it. Here’s what today isn’t about. We we’ve got an awful lot of work going or is where you get to the and and the only way you can it works is if you hire the person.
That was you’re going to get to the r.r. and we’ll talk about your coaching a little bit as we go through but you’re to be able to all of this without us and we’d like to have you oh my God look at Nancy Hofmeister just job she’s from the North Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce that’s envy the r.c.c. dot org Or for all of the you in Los Angeles that want to join a really nice and Chamber of Commerce newly on a level exactly that.
Got you like what are they just they’re calling on the air and I’m not. Sure she planned on staying 5 minutes and she now she has to sing the whole time.
Either. If you have questions you can drop into the chat or hold on Julie and if you hold on to them to the end we’ll ask you to anew so we can you don’t have to type your question in.
For whatever that’s worth a little about us we’re voted America’s number one coaching team for small business owners we turned an awful lot of launch printers into entrepreneurs. In fact we had 3 different clients start in.
2020 they’re all our profitable all the way through the year and we work a lot of small business owners to. Teach you how to get what you want from your business our mission is to teach you how to build your business the easiest fastest and most effective ways but today going to teach what he’s learned in the very best way.
All right we set Oh there was there was one more last little bit about us we do twice the we do our small business breakthrough recap if you’d like to go to that in March if you write down plan your marketing dot com.
If you’d like to invest money to go you can go to the marketing of the comet Alaska or your credit card or you got a planner of that plan you’re marketing the company to.
Something else really that we’d like to offer to you. We turned our podcast middle of last year we turned our podcast in with video cast It’s called The View Cast dot com It’s u.r.l. the whole purpose of the of the video cast is to interview small business owners.
Instead of an hour like our podcast will end it’s 7 minutes 21 seconds because July 21 is our 1st trick if you like the other you guessed it it’s an e-mail the ad e-mail addresses on your screen and if your chat seems like the on the guest will send you questions you send us back answers and that’s how it figure out who qualifies it’s really easy to qualify there’s like 12 questions and if you give us a full page for each question you’re not in the show because we have to fit into 7 minutes 21 so if you’re your top your ideal client does not want to listen long in that depth and the questions are gone if you go to the Cast dot com You can watch a few episodes it’s totally designed for you to share it with a prospect and have them understand exactly why you are awesome to work with if you want so come on there and I see some folks in here Chris you’re coaching click Christopher Reeve to set a time you’re already on the show you have to be on it we have set a time to get you on there and I think Nancy would be a lot of fun to have on the show and we would tweak it a little bit so that they can use it for the show prospect members that they want to join so you know.
Oh they’re just small bits break if we can there’s the day to day left side of your screen if you want to be on there just go to plan your marketing dot com and you can join us for 3 days 3 hours and we’ll put your entire market for.
One last little bit of we are small business coaches we have a repair service we have private coaching or we talk to you every week and we have a group coaching program where you get to chat with us for 70 hours during the course of a year.
That’s a lot of time. All right come on load up get is going here is the aforementioned marketing basics. What’s waiting for your screen to catch up to there when it’s a moment yes some basics like my Lou talks that I picked up and strong for the prom.
Understand that we don’t create any marketing message for Linked In or anything else without knowing who are creating it for because of the road to success there are no shortcuts picture picture this if you know.
You need to know the demographics of your audience for example a match in these 4 women all want to buy a car they live in a major much to Politan city if they do not want to use public transportation absolutely not they probably are not shopping for the same kind of car they probably are not looking for the same benefits and features of our so a good car sales person is going to message each of them differently on Linked In or whatever the best platform is for that demographic as the youngest one on your far left may not be on Linked In yet.
They’re going to message each of them differently in order to attract them to their dealership and the same thing is true for you it is quite possible these 4 women could all benefit from your products or services but you’ll need to message each of them differently on Linked In a different kind of a post a different kind of a private message in order to attract them to.
Conus by the way I haven’t thought yet if you all want to go to the bootcamp if you just drop your email address in the chat. We will send you the information you don’t even have to go to the other website.
Look at how fast it’s Friday afternoon we’re going to make old Hannah get it. And you can’t see it except for her tail they can see the tail Tessie has just joined us to see the cat is now in the house here’s a here’s a real world example of how demographics are used by large companies we went to Panda Express because it’s the only place you could check that good Chinese food in in our entire area I know and on the back or see it said you want $2.00 off the next time you go go to this Web site answer some questions about your dinner so I did and this was the last slide where they started to gather demographic information because if they’re going to advertise for that store and for the chain as a whole they want to know who’s gone.
So they gathered gender and age and now they didn’t need to know what we order because they’re to have the order number in and they didn’t need the geography because they knew what store we went to so there he had that info but they wanted some background information and this way they can put the in their t.v. ads or their print ads for the area they can put people in that reflect their audience in general so that taking that’s taking theory and giving us an example of how it works in real life.
When you’re putting your demographics together we use a chart. It’s coming easy to use and we have several different we call them Harriet’s different demographic groups. And we know the graphics problem with interest really cool and interesting is that not all of them are and are similar we have a very disparate Barrett disparate wide variety.
Friday afternoon target audiences by the way if you would like this chart again some of us an email saying you’d like it and we will send you that was needed to start if you’d like us to look at your completed chart and give you some advice we can get at the $97.00 because it’s going to be a little time to go through it and write up a report for you so it’s 97 dollars and you get 6 months or mastermind that meets on Monday so either way the free your or having us help you out we’re glad to help you.
There’s another part of the equation of who your target market is in the messages you create and most small businesses don’t cover this they only talk about this and it’s what’s going on in your prospects minds it’s great that we can say Well my client is 40 years old female married college educated self designate says Christian has a couple of kids vacations revolve around you know taking the kids really fun places and their job is that she is the office manager for a large law firm.
That allows us to bind her but the psyche graphics are how do we make her job easier working with us that’s what’s going on people will will run away from pain faster them Ouran toward pleasure.
And we don’t buy for the logical reasons like what signs we buy for emotional reasons. In our boot camp I tell a much longer story about by how I bought a car without even realizing I was buying a car because they the sales person gave me a price that was below the price I was going to offer and I said I’ll take.
Here’s how this works in real world on the right side of your screen is our trade show booth Lucy wells based on Lucy psychiatric help but since you didn’t write.
Now interestingly before we built this we sent the mock up out to all of our different target audience people some clients some not clients and we wanted to see what they thought interesting we universally liked Ok Well we’re not sure if the booth itself is a.
Magnet or not but at least they didn’t hate it so we went and built it and when it went out and when we brought it out into the wild Here’s what we found out our audience our target audiences when they walk by our trade shows they get it and they universally say oh so cute or oh my god I totally get it and they like it they get it so somebody gets our boots they know if they if they approach us from point of view I totally understand where you’re coming from about.
Yeah we know that they have a good chance of being a client or referral park so they’re going to leave with that a half by 11 sheet of paper that we all give out we do a trade show people call us you know they get at least one of our books sometimes too.
So that. What they’re getting is really great marketing information and but the worst thing that will happen with this book is that they get back to their office and it goes on the shelf where our name mocks them forever.
The a half mile of sheet of paper when it gets back to most people’s offices you know they trash all the paper and they keep all the promotional products which makes which is why Chris as a.
Business but our book is there and inside the book there’s plenty of ways to that they can track us down so that the purpose. If there’s a look at the booth and they say so you want to nickel to answer the question not one of our target audiences so we give a couple of motion products and sales on them information and weave their way into sales funnel and that’s the top of the funnel if you want to go and marketers terms.
It allows us to get just the people that we want to work with to raise their hand and say yeah I’d like more information and we’re going to get into Linked In here and that’s what your post only didn’t want to do you want to get the people that are your target market to raise their hand and say I want some information and another way to look at everything you post is to think of it in terms of a sidewalk sign.
Here’s an actual sidewalk sign on your screen we actually saw this bank actually took the picture we were in on the do William bear children actually we we were in London visiting my sister and her family we saw the sidewalk sign we were instantly attracted because we are big bang theory fans it is the ring tone on my phone of hers.
You and I got it and so we we stopped and thought I was we’re going to win some pounds and have a good time darn straight Skippy and then we noticed the date had to be gone by then Barnett So what’s the sidewalk sign did it got us interested really in a razor hand gave us we’re going to walk in find out just enough information to you to not be late to my sister’s since we if they didn’t have the day we would have to go in ask them when there is possibly valid a whole form before realizing oh we’re not going to be here right so we didn’t take up our time we didn’t have to take all the pub keeps time and we were able to go our way but it’s a pub but they’re barking even at the pub yes they are barking.
Whatever I do way so this is what your posts do on Linked In on any other social media they are a sidewalk sign they don’t give your whole menu it’s just enough to get someone interested enough to raise and then say yes I would like more information and example if you were going to post one of your blogs on Linked In you would post the entire blog you would post a few sentences and a link that brings a back to your website what we’re trying to do with Linked In and every other social media platform.
Is we wanted them to act as a boomerang because when we’re all on social media we’re script you know we’re swiping left right down and we’re just moving on we’re trying to be amused by something and the next post could capture their attention.
So we want to get into our Web site we’re going to your Web site off of the social media site so they invest more time on was Ok well so as we have started what’s the difference between Facebook and the Linked In thing you do or.
Think of Facebook as the bot backyard barbecue and Linked In is more the office water cooler remember those both of those. So it’s still casual we’re still having conversations but it’s a little more professional it’s a little more about business than necessarily you know the kids in.
Food. And Twitter is the Facebook backyard barbecue after everyone had several of built beverages no more like that pub sign that you saw that’s kind of what Twitter is like loud and lots of stuff going on in the struct So right now as we get into focusing our message.
We need to understand that there are 5 generations in the marketplace right now and that’s going to be the case for another several years. And how you approach them should be different that I had a conversation with.
Which I was talking Lindsay. She she went to free marketing consultation dot com and we were talking for a half hour. And we were talking about the video how how she shows up.
To different parts of her website what is for it for the world’s facing and the others for businesses that would be hiring her and. My comment was when you shoot the videos that are going to be on each of those how you dress should be different.
Right the people are going to be hiring you as as a consultant as consultant for their business helping one of their clients or if your clients are going to sign you to take care of the whole project for them so we were talking a little bit about the difference in dress so different generations will look at that in fact.
How do you choose the right platforms this is really this is a brand new slide. We just got a 299 page state of the Internet statistic pack to report awesome Lizzie’s it so you don’t have to back like 299 pages single spaced I think.
So how do you know which platforms to be on well go back and he slides what where is your target audience is are we call them areas where your hairiest like.
If you had to pick one all Facebook is kind of huge if you look at the numbers you go from left to right linked in well if you’re if you’re selling to professionals b. to be kind of a thing.
It’s really where you should be yeah it’s it’s a 3rd of the size of Facebook but it more targeted it’s focused on professionals it’s a it’s a database. And you know if you were really interested in small businesses well there’s this there’s one called a line about that’s not even on the chart they only have 6000000 users at the moment well that’s nowhere near Yeah but you know we’re near any of these but it’s all small business owners so.
One of the other cool things in that study it’s not in here. Says that. Burchill really everyone that is using one of the major platforms is on at least one other platform most of them are on 2 or 3.
It’s just 2 of Linked In my most people that are on Linked In are also on Facebook they do the personal stuff on Facebook I’m on Facebook 2 paychecks my friends of my kids and grandkids and on Linked In it’s professional So does that mean Sharon when I go on to Linked In of the Facebook event and you know the Twitter too I have to post different things to all of them.
Me Well it depends if you talking about your Facebook profile verses your versus Linked In yes if you’re talking about your Facebook Business Page the know it can be the same on your Facebook business pages on your Linked In company page so you’re creating the content and you get to repurpose it absolutely or over more than one time absolutely you can use it on your Instagram if it’s the business page on Instagram versus personal profile Twitter sending it depends on.
Keep in mind why is a special or is this business and if you were on you know we’re always we’re all close Google my business and a line of bull if you if you pick today and go across all of our platforms and like them all please.
In fact what I’d really love you do is go to our You Tube channel youtube dot com slash you all you have created and subscribe for you to show.
You will see the same content show up all across the board so that we don’t create new content for all recruiting of content for 5 platforms or 6 platforms every day oh my gosh now it’s the same thing it’s just you know overall So while we just we just take them sometimes good awesome So what about the steps for Linked In a little more closely.
You know one of the stats that’s missing from this particular slide it’s it’s quite interesting is that most people I forget the percentage but most people are only spending 17 minutes a month on Linked In So that means that it’s not a big time investment for you.
Right you might wonder why your content has to be dialed in so well so that your finding the right prospects. You might see here right Linked In has proven to generate over 62 percent of the b. to b. marketeers right those leads.
It’s response for a person the b. to b. leads from all social media so those are those are important steps Linked In We we. Think most of you I can’t picture you all but most of us we grew up thinking Linked In was a job board got to have started but it’s not any more it is a professional’s database if your ideal client is professional and probably are because that’s who has that disposable income to afford your products and services Linked In is the database for those professionals and area I’m looking for a chat I never get I never get a chance to really look at.
It is best for showing off your professional accomplishments Absolutely. This year says the secret weapon is to create a group and you know actually this is evolved it is more to go attend the groups where your ideal client is already participating you might ultimately want to lead them to a group that you’ve created but that’s probably not the best place to start we would say start with being of service in a group where your ideal client is already participating go be helpful and lead them to your company page lead them to your profile if that’s appropriate and you know maybe someday you’ll create your own group that may not be the best place to start.
If it is fairly 50 fiftieth’s crews a little more males notice the a demographics though right it is primarily that sweet spots for those that are in the workforce actually this is this is the updated the stats it’s not that 57 I thought I saw that an earlier slide got up to just like out of the other in 5 I’m sorry I have to update this like we can just stop the entire Now moving on.
And then what are you sharing right relevant contents. For business are going to go right into 17 when Tim profile must haves we’re going to get through this in 5 seconds Nora you know.
Number one use those keywords so you’ve probably heard us talk about this or other professionals talk about this for your Web site the same thing is true for Linked In It is a database so you do need to think about what is your ideal client typing into this Linked In search bar to find you when she doesn’t know that you specifically exist so think about what those key words are you’re going to use them throughout this is where to come back to that quite a bit never to use your professional name only what do I mean by that I mean it use a name that you introduce.
Yourself 2 with 2 others right so for example Hanks legal name is Henry but he doesn’t go by that right he introduces himself as Hank So if if His profile said Henry you lost but you were looking for Hank that’s how you met him you would be confused but the only people that ever called me Henry are people that knew me in high school or they’re trying to sell me something and I bought a list actually I thought of another example yes when when I remember when I used to work for other companies like over to enough to cave to go when I would win one of the sales awards it would come with my given name right but yeah that was used to annoy me yes yes yes now when I win employee of the month for us creative It always comes with Hank never says anything.
I want to keep that in mind when I create 252 I’ve won 287 months in a row. Moving on so yes use your professional name whatever that is that you introduce yourself with there number 3 use a professional headshot this is not selfie time.
Even during this pandemic photographers know how it’s pay for professional headshots using social distancing for example use that professional had we would not do a screen shot of us right now and use it I mean we’re not sure shorts but.
You know our headshots suited shirt tie jacket dials not on the book cover like on the book cover only see if it comes in. Here we go by the way that photo was shot in the parking lot of the Westin at l.a.x..
But he says the buy 2nd works really well well vaster. Ballo Westover Yes asa photographer in Los Angeles actually in California because he’s actually all over the place in California so if your we were you have and we’re speaking about I said hey we need some other headshots you have some time to shoot him during the breaks and he goes you know we got 15 minutes kind of he brought us up to the parking lot and what are we doing with our yard trust me just looked at me like dude.
We got really great shots so use your head shot and one of the questions we often get is do I use the same photo on multiple platforms the answer is yes yes please yes because then when you meet someone even if you make them be a zoom right they kind of look at the headshot does that does that match is that the person I met the other question that we get is how when should I change my head shot and here’s my tip for you if you look at the head shot on your profile well that Iceland interface with this matter on your profile and you look in the mirror and those 2 people are look different time for a new hat job usually that’s every 3 to 5 years but it is very.
Ok and before optimize your location so think about where you are and where your ideal client is here’s what I mean by that. Nancy is that the head of the chamber at North Valley that’s in the San Fernando Valley which is the north end of Los Angeles it’s a it’s local right she does local business so she would use that local area if she was trying to attract from the Greater Los Angeles area that she could put in greater Los Angeles.
We work with. Small business owners in the English speaking world but we can’t write that in our Linked In profile and most people even if they’re international They want to know where you’re really based so ours does say the town that we’re in.
But you could use you can go as broad as USA and it all depends on where are you and where is your client base coming from and what do they need to know you can’t by the way make something up so if you are living in the you know adorable little town that just got its new name you can’t make it up has to be something that Linked In recognizes.
That’s happened in Los Angeles because occasionally there’s little parts that want to change their name and it’s confusing. Number 5 brand or professional headline if you are new to your Linked In profile this comes up as your title and so many people make the mistake of putting in their title I am the founder on the c.e.o. I’m the whatever write that but think about this your ideal client is not typing that in they’re not typing in founder of American business they’re not they’re not even typing in the c.e.o. of American business so make your headline remember these key words up here from number one make that headline those key words that will attract your ideal client to find you when they don’t know that you specifically exist and let’s see if I’m trying to I look to George exponential dog group so.
You wouldn’t put in owner you might put in what he does but when they’re going now I’ve used targeted marketing tactician because quite often it’s interesting as a keyword a lot of people have found us because they’re looking for shit for somebody that can do targeted marketing or.
So what one of the titles that I’ve used for a while is targeted marketing technician I don’t put owner you know because nobody’s ever going to type in owner but if they’re looking for a small business coach Well they’re going to find Sharon because it’s more of his coaches and we only work with small business owners so we don’t even use the cliche small to medium size business that’s not us we work with small business owners so we are we dial it up dial it in as much as possible yes so thick and you you only have $110.00 characters to be mindful and ideally you leave a little enough characters to also put your phone number there’s another place your phone number will come back about but one of the reasons that people are looking at your Linked In is that they are we were scheduled to have a call what’s that phone number right to the looking for your phone number make it easy for them by the way if you have a founder c.e.o. that sort of thing in your title and not in your headline here who you know who is looking for that telemarketers make those folks that want to reach the founder the c.e.o. of x. So if you want to be called by telemarketers and by all means use that So so basically put in what in what you do for your customer Yes.
Or and call out your customer right like like I said right small business us we’re going to call out that we work for small business number 6 customize your u.r.l. when you sign up with any of the social media Linked In included it will give you in fact here’s the example here right it will give you this gobbledygook here so instead customize it to be your name and it’s much as possible now right none of us realize how common our name was until we got on social media so it is possible that your name is already taken you may have to be creative maybe you need to add your middle initial If you got smart you talk about when you interviewed yourself for it on your business card.
Maybe it’s your title so if Neil Shaffer were a c.p.a. and he went and tried to climb the claim Neil Shaffer and it wasn’t taken he could add Neal Shaffer c.p.a. as an example or he would attorney you could add e.s.q. Esquire right so you may have to be a little creative if you haven’t been able to claim your name but by all means it’s better than all this gobbledygook.
Number 7 align your industry this is again not a time to be cute you have to choose something that Linked In recognizes this is a database and so it needs to match something that’s already in the database remember there they’re trying to link to and Google have something in common they’re trying to deliver a great user experience.
When you type something into Google one of the one of the reasons that you know s.p.o. is so important search engine optimization is really important is that Google is trying to deliver the exact right people to the person the types it in Linked In is the same they want to have a great.
User experience so that with if you’re looking for a particular kind of person that you want to hire or connect with for a joint venture the better that they can line you up and bring you together the better will be so that’s what we know what we don’t want to play games on it and try to go around the system this is this is not the place to do that.
The way that you claim your proof profile u.r.l. is in the settings. So you have to add it go to studying this and it’ll say I think it’s on the right hand side.
It’s on the right hand side. Number 8 Be active right linked in like any other social media you can’t just put your stuff up there and then walk away and go Ok well my profile my company pages are not all right it’s kind of like joining the chamber right if you just go join the chamber and you give them dollars but you never actually participate and then you wonder at the end the year has going to get any business from the chamber because you weren’t there just anything with Linked In If I put my profile up I I created a company page but I never got any business well did you ever posted you engage with people did you have a conversation we’ll know will be but it won’t work for you you know the North Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce and the r.c.c. dot org They’re different you could just join and you will get business you don’t have to be.
There is that different. Huh. Ok I’ll just leave that because I’m going to go back to. Saturn Yes. And what we mean by active by the way is yes Post every day just like Hank said earlier at the top you go here so here right there’s and this actually we’ve been changed a little bit so there’s messages so if someone’s messaging you you want to answer those messages right if I message you and you never answer me well I thought I’m going to keep chasing you that’s just silly.
There’s also notifications so if you made a post and someone commented on your post then they’ll be a notification so you want to answer those notifications thank you for liking my post thank you fright answered their comment whatever that was someone’s trying to connect with you if they reach out and it’s either an ideal client or prospective quant or a potential referral partner that you want to connect with those you need to connect with everybody in the whole world why it will have to be a little more selective about who we connected with are they an ideal client a prospective client a referral partner to those clients know by all means connect with them so that’s what we mean by active.
Number one expand upon your professional headline and support it so after you have your headline the next section below is the about section the summary section so this is where you get to show off what you do and you can as number 10 says you can be visual You can add videos and images you can have links to p.d.f. so you can if you use Slide Share you can use a link to Slide Share So put all of that in there if you are stuck and you just you’re staring at a blank screen you don’t know what to say go look at my profile look at my About section my summary section it is it’s created as a template so copy it paste it into a word processing document change it was about you right you don’t need me in your summary that’s just silly and then copy it from the Word document paste it back into Linked In know give you a nice template.
Number 11 get connected remember I said there are people reaching out to you connect with them if they are either your ideal client prospective client or referral partner to those clients as you said I’m amazed at how much stuff that we do is so that our clients can just kind of are easy our patrons easy yes that’s rip off a duplicate.
Yes. Number 13 is indorsements or we’re going to talk about 12 because so 12 I’m sorry as well as well perennials I could well we just won an award so we’re going to add that award we got the president’s word for that and the r.c.c. double work we did so we’re going to add about where we got the President’s Trophy and did I expect about that very we we also got the a line of all of the year well you’re going you got that that was you that was and it was as I’m.
Sure I got for the for these. The 2nd time Sharon has been the small business person of the year for in our you know if it’s done by community so it’s not she’s just I’m just more active on a level than you are that’s.
A bit jealous. Sylvia. If you’re not active as a think they got every platform you’re not active then you like walk Ok Number 13. It door Smits So then the next slide we’re going to talk about a yeah the next I would talk about recommendations that kind of go together so indorsements if you go to if you go to my profile especially have been there before you know prompts you to you know give you 4 boxes is sharing good at this this this or this I’m asked you to pick one of the 4 Now if we’ve never interacted before I don’t know how you can possibly know which of those 4 to pick if any of them.
So this is why I am not a big fan of indorsements because I can just click on anything and it’s just whatever it makes that makes it really easy Langton likes it your ideal client may or may not know the difference between an endorsement and a recommendation however a recommendation as you’ll see when we switch slides.
Means if I wanted to recommend Nancy at the chamber I would have to go to her profile and write an actual sentence or 2 or a paragraph why I think Nancy at the chamber is awesome and when it shows up on her profile which she accepts it because you do have to accept recommendations Northants just happen by a click but a recommendation you do have a chance to say.
No I don’t want that on my profile you know someone wrote something that wasn’t really a recommendation they were trying to sneak into Dana right or maybe they were recommending you for something that you don’t actually do anymore I think you don’t want that they are going recommendations he’s really going to excel.
Really clearly we haven’t hung out with for long you know so you do have a chance to say no I don’t want that recommendation but assuming that you want that recommendation you approve it it shows up on your profile with a picture of who it was that gave you that recommendation so it carries more weight with your ideal client.
Number 14 make yourself contactable member I said in your headline leave room for your phone number but there’s also this contact section it just takes extra clicks especially on a smart device to get to it in order to click your phone number so make make your self contactable and that’s that’s true because across all of the platforms Yes.
Quite often I’ll be on Facebook and I want to promote someone but see what city I want to promote Danielle from modern times and I want to promote her but I was on Facebook and and her phone number wasn’t there won’t shoot or no email or.
It’s one thing to type a you should talk to Danielle at and maybe you’ll come up but if you add the phone number when you’re promote when you’re promoting somebody and if that number is available they have that person is a much greater chance of being contacted so make yourself comfortable What could it possibly hurt.
She hears that recommendations you have there’s a paragraph and that person’s face right so it shows that someone actually took the time to write it an actual person you didn’t write it for them they if they actually took the time 16 fully connect with your past so.
Profane but how far back do you go think about this strategically Well you know if you had started your profile. Way back when and this means to go back and delete things that’s fine.
But if you’re starting brand new you. 10 years most most resumes only go back 10 years so you could do that with your with your Linked In profile it kind of pans out how how far back do you have experience that’s relevant to what your current potential clients want to know about you let me give an example we had a client that was a nurse and she wanted to open.
An assisted living center and she said well maybe I’m just going to profile that’s not about nursing No no no that nursing background is really really important if I’m torn between which assisted living I want to go to or on my parents to write do I want the I want to connect with the person that was an admin at a previous assisted living center and is now opening her own or do I want the nurse that has worked with seniors and is opening her own right big difference so if it’s relevance then by all means and it may not be relevant job wise you may look at it and go Well I was just on the no driver’s got ice cream and it’s just not relevant to what I’m doing now now but it may give an extra flavor for why you versus Jane Doe next door that claims to be doing offer the same products or service that you often drive dryers ice cream but I guess I fear you would think if.
The 1st 10 years I was in the promotional products in the street I worked for someone else I don’t know why a company. So I don’t have that company name there I just put in another production of products company so rather than promote that company which I didn’t want to do I just put it.
Sort of the equivalent now I’m so far past that no one has ever asked will name the company or they do I just tell them you know move your mom said if you can’t see something then.
So but it’s another it’s another possibility and it’s it’s helpful because there are there are other promotional product distributors who want to up level their game and be be more of a marketing resource than just a promotional products resource and the fact that Hank has that is a background why would they choose a business coach that doesn’t have that promotional products background versus someone that does right so if he if he wipe that out and said well that’s not relevant I as a business coach I was a no no it’s relevant because you you will attract other promotional 5 distributors that want to up level the game and especially since I was one of the original managers so you know it allows me to to keep that in there without promoting that of the company Absolutely.
Number 17 join relevant Lincoln Group member of the very beginning it’s of the secret sauce was to start your own and I thought no no no no no here’s where the fish gives you the rest of the season yeah join join other groups the groups that already exist were your ideal client and the federal partners are already hanging out.
70 so that one of the 17 we promised you by the way yes if you want to talk about how to strategically use those if you come to our social media net this coming Monday I think Monday is social media day we have social media day in the morning it’s basics and in the afternoon it’s a dance Yes we’ll talk about that a little bit more in depth how to use groups cheery vantage Yes Yeah in fact if you want the Times everything if you just go to your marketing Advisor dot com You get our entire list of webinars that are coming in for the next month x. up a little bit.
Chris should you give a brief description of the company from the past it depends on how you left it and how relevant it is to your current client base do they care right if your if your potential client is coming to you Do they care what the company was or are they just care that it was a promotional products company Chris Go look at my Linked In page and you’ll see his personal profile come out and I have my personal profile page and you will see how I handle it.
Ok fact I think it’s I think almost the same description of my my personal profile for the Facebook page to almost say. Ok so now that you have your personal profile all dialed in now you want to create a company page so where do you go do that you go go back to Linked In at the top bar.
You see Yes Ok top bar all the way on the right hand side it’ll say work and there’s a little drop down arrow and you’re going to drop the arrow it opens up a box right like this right here box sometimes it looks like the box is all the way at the end and you’re like it’s not there it is there you may need to scroll down here on the side there’s a scroll bar you may have to scroll down all the way to the bottom to see create a company page it’s there it is there you trust and you really really really have to scroll a little she was prevented.
Ok some company page do we have a new 2021 she will do Ok here’s your bonus just for hanging. If you want to know the right photos for everything send us an e-mail saying hey I want your image size cheat sheet in fact we’ll say because it’s one p.d.f. you’ll get the the image size for all of the major platforms so you can know what size to make that’s a bonus.
Always good to have bonus content that’s your bonus gift for hanging out. The do on even think I have one in my which the. Image thing Ok well.
You know but I’m going to show we show. Is this you.
File only halfway there. Yes So Update site only 42 percent update regularly and then they wonder why Lindens all working for them this is why we say Be active participate and be there daily Those are the daily things to do post daily connect with those that want to connect with you connect with those that you need to connect with Answer those messages and pay attention to certifications so if they’ve commented on your post you comment back here’s the thing you’re going to hear this when you come to social media day on Monday but I will it’s true for Linked In every platform this is true if you write a post and I comment on your post that is one comment if you comment back on my comment even if all you say is thank you it’s now 2 comments you’ve now doubled the number of comments and you’re your boost it up and then if if I then respond to you or your then hang comments on your post and you thank him again you know how for comments so anytime someone comments on your posts at least say thank you for taking a moment to to comment even if you don’t do anything else because it will show that post to more people whom you are not a bonus here’s another bonus remember what we’re trying to do is get them to go from your social media page to your work site right.
On the left side of your screen is a meme that we put up from time to time in fact it went up at some point this week. It’s Easter eggs you know the concept of Easter eggs a little something extra and it says hey if you go to our website and you find Easter eggs you’ve won 3 of her books.
Now make it real easy to find whatever you’re giving them. And if you haven’t been fortunate enough to write you know half a dozen of them bestselling books you might have some other content.
If you’re looking for some sort of free report you’re not sure what to do if you connect with us for half hour free marketing consultation dot com We can help you put that that report together.
But what we’re doing remember is getting them from the social media site to our website and we make it really easy to find Easter eggs it is one click off of our our home page.
So on a simple again the idea is to get it off of your social media and onto your website the more people we can get on your website from your social media the better it is this is something you could have ready to do this was not hard to create this little easter egg thing you can have this up the seething.
Problem Well I could because I’ve had to do it myself like that. Sharon has a me. That was on so you’ve just got 17 plus bonuses ways to get past all the myths and such and make your Linked In page better so now what it’s going to the next steps are not are not worth it not one that I don’t know didn’t want to click I’ve got a quest question for you did you learn something new driver breakthrough or are you going to be posting are you going to set up your Linked In page like this weekend is the end of the perfect If so well done good job does the take massive action we appreciate that a lot but here’s hoping that you should be doing do you have a marketing budget time and dollars you know what you paying yourself to be on social media for for 22 minutes of the morning 22 minutes the afternoon.
We’re in a networking group that meets Wednesday mornings and right now we’re not charging dues so there’s ero cost except for our time Sharon and I both show up and be the hospital zoom box for an hour us so it’s time budget do you have your budget.
Everything should be budgeted out because if you if you don’t budget it then it’s harder to decide if you’re investing into something new. Get really profession it’s a basic tools do you know how to shoot videos you know with whatever phone device Siri you’re using do you know the difference you’re Brickell it horizontally do you know which plot you know how to do a live on any of the platforms Linked In included Yep.
All of these things lead into your sales funnel you know what your process is for meeting your prospect and bring them down you know the yellow brick road to making a sale we talk to a lot of folks that that you know well my my plan is I go to a chamber event somebody asked me to some information that I follow up a couple of times good we can probably refine that and if you know what your process is you’re going to you’re going it’s going to work better for you next are you on social media are you there on a daily basis and I’m sorry to say you do you’ve got to be on there every day it is really important.
Next you took notes today you did and case and I see some of the names on our list of attendees day some of you have been to some other weapon arse.
If you have your list of things to do it helps you create your to do this and why is it 12 and not a top 10 because there’s 12 months in a year.
You don’t have to do all of this stuff at once please don’t if you go for we would rather you stay. Well instead of overwhelmed stand us in the place of well and.
On our list right now one of the things that that was hovering at number 12 forever now it’s like number one and 2 is our next book we’re looking for co-authors that are in a relationship in a business it can be parent child it can be just 2 friends it could be married we’re looking to interview people that are in business together so that we can put out our next book which is called Partners and everything.
And why are we creating that book well if it’s going to be a sales tool just like all of our other books we use of the sales tools to hand our information to our prospects you know it’s a really cool tool.
It allows them to get to know us which is why the reason that our boot camp we talk about books and why blogging is important and all sorts of cool stuff we’re on a call today and we were able to rationally hold the hand of somebody who’s thinking I keep being told I should be writing a book and I don’t want to write the book and we should or exactly how to do it in a simple easy quick way and now she’s excited about it.
I know she’s awesome she’s a rock and rock entrepreneur All right so those 3 things if any of the are challenging get help we’re free marketing consultation dot com This is not a sales call.
It is a half hour of us helping you out. We had someone called us from Switzerland this morning and her goal was that she needed a tagline and 5 minutes and we gave her her tag on interest as on and we’re just talking about how she was going to use it but she needed a tagline.
We’ve had other people that said I need I need a Facebook business page set up we can do that half hour so we are open to help and why is it free and a simple have it we just talked about fills almost half of our referrals half of them come from people that we gave them a little bit of help and they told their friends who needed a business coach so the more free marketing consultations we can do the happier we are did you just your 2 cats in a tussle over.
I heard our call at a squeak but I didn’t see her when you know our studio is decently soundproofed But when 2 of the cats walk in together. See rich get it as if she felt their self.
So she’s having a tough. So if you’d like to come to our our Lucy booth it’s a market we are there it’s got a free market compensation there’s a few questions and it puts you right into our calendar will help you with your online footprint.
What we’re really doing is trying to get you to press a museum. Because not everything in your marketing has to be hard some of it can actually be fun and you know if you want to stop space you’re wasting time or money or energy or.
You want to call us and we’ll help you out we’ll give you our free report discover 10 proven steps. But you can take right now to be foundering cover thing just as this Wardell nickel asks for that we wrote that for our clients early last year.
And they liked it they used it so now we it’s now a white paper it’s a free report that you know you’re also going to get an invitation to our camp you know we’re going to teach you how to to click your heels together and make it all really easily.
And that plan your marketing dot com You get a free ticket if you put your e-mail in the chat now will just send you the information but all of the information there on their video is that all you can talk talk virtually to some folks have been your boot camp and you’ll see them in 3 days 3 hours a day we will really put your marketing plan together so that’s kind of I think that’s almost it we can take questions now.
Yes we are aware of the questions. Any questions if you can have them you know do you or or just scream really loud and maybe we’ll hear you without a meeting.
Ok Nancy I will do that I’m glad that you found value do you know and it is great a separate course for creating what Clinton company I just you know creating a Linked In company page is really simple Seriously you don’t need a whole course you just as I said right go to work go to the drop down all the way at the bottom create companies it will walk you through it you will you will have it done in 15 minutes it’s really simple you don’t need a course just just go do it or go to free marketing consultation and we’ll walk you through it.
Some simple you can do it that way is no. Suggestion have some of your professional photos prepared ready and your logo ready and you know there’s some content to make it easier yes but if you don’t or if there’s a challenge those you know are no pewters do weird things you can there is a way to end it go back into it later but it is it is really pretty simple Heck if I can do it.
Chris if you have a question yeah I do a lot of couple questions 1st of all did you get my link to those headshots. I didn’t see your e-mail but we didn’t get to just look at it that we were on the fly and look I mean it’s half dozen or a dozen shots so we’re trying to figure out what we’re going to do a quick question on the company page since since I belong to a larger organization but my website is personalized can I create a company page that would be you know like American print promo dot com which is part of American Solutions for business.
But only do it if I own the u.r.l. you I only u.r.l. American print promo dot com Yes so that the company page will just be American print promo right because I don’t know what you compared me to like real estate or insurance that I’m I’m an individual even though I’m part of a bigger company correct so you know you can create the company page if it’s a if it’s a company you you Oh right it’s your company I would hesitate to create a company page that to a bigger write if I if we work for g.e. we wouldn’t create a company page for g.e. right we assume that their marketing department going to create that but if we are consulting we have the you a lot of creative page does that that make sense yes.
I’ll play around with that I’ll let you look at it before I do anything Ok Ok so just under the schedule I want to that are working on the yacht thanks how’s your mail How’s your list coming.
I haven’t done much in the last few days so I need to I told her I was going to have it up to 300 by next Monday Ok Hey you’re it you know what last Monday you beat your number but I said to.
You can coast a little bit. But on Monday Yes Chris is in our group plan so you know we we try to keep everyone I’ve been working on copy on the postcards so I’m hoping to do Actually my goal is by the end of the weekend to have something to send to you to look at about 8 or 9 postcards Ok awesome can’t wait to see a.
Question day and I’m so make sure. Oh you’re very welcome George happy to help and any every way we can. Diana I’ve answered you in the chat I will make sure I’m answering the right question are you having trouble with free marketing consultation or is there a different site a new type in and while we’re there.
Make sure you’re make sure you sign up for the camp. Oh oh. This is like live radio anyone watching the replay is having a lot of fun.
Guy and I try adding the dub dub dub in front instead of without the dub dub. I know just I love the tech the technology of having stuff tweaked.
We’ve done we did a webinars earlier this week and there was about a 12 2nd delay between when I clicked the next slide and when everyone was seeing it sometimes technology is not our friend our good friend it just sort of last sent us from the side of the room.
And Sharon’s trying to type with a cat in her lap too so. It’s Yeah I don’t know if it’s a browser issue or not that’s an odd We don’t usually have an issue with that particular site but if you just type into the chat Diana which which dates you prefer then I’ll just do it manually by hand just tell me if you prefer the 111213 or 252627 both of which are in March and I’ll just do it by hand and you’ll get an email confirmation.
Technology is great when it works and when it doesn’t it’s really frustrating us getting whatever she wants feeling you’ve got us and I will I’ll get you when you should get that that confirmation this weekend it may not happen tonight but you will you should get it this weekend homes All right you’re very welcome have we have we reached a new day and.
