If you really want to hire somebody to do it. Or you want to do yourself or you want to start doing it yourself that’s where we are and if you have noise in the background.
Either yourself or turn it off because. Because Sheryl before you marry go whoever them from the 415 you are needed all the. Here’s what we’ve noticed in the last several months is that.
Social media. Time has has shifted and gone up people are getting on earlier than normal. And they’re spending more time on it. We look at our own calendar and we used to speak on 5 different stages a month.
Were various Yeah 56. Because we had a drive to get there our calendar was more limited now we’re doing into the teens when ours every month because it’s a short drive to our studio here.

If you notice this just no you’re not you’re not crazy bless you. But what has happened is that how companies are using social media is going tochange as well and how they’re doing all of their marketing we went back and he I was reminded of Charles Darwin’s book Origin of Species knocking about in 859 but it’s true now when you look in terms of businesses it isn’t always the strongest or the smartest that survive with the ones that can adapt the most quickly and that’s really good for you as a small business owner because 80 percent of the original Fortune 500 is no longer in business.
And that’s that’s a bad thing and a good thing it isn’t just size that determines how successful that you can big most of your are here on this weapon are cause you’ve said this at one time or another I just want to do it myself Ok fine.
We’re going to be given you several tips Here’s the 1st tip are going to give us that
Whether you hire somebody or not you can’t just turn the keys over to somebody else and walk away
and just assume it’s done.
There are some things you could do in your marketing that you could do that but definitely not this one as really with most things in your business right you’re not going to just turn over the keys and say Ok well check the box they’re handling it I need to worry about it write your business they’re going to come and go but they’re there so you know one of our we still own a promo promotional product company and I got a call week and a half ago.
From the screen Sion screen print shop yes when I get an order for t. shirts I do not go out and print them. I use one particular shop for a jacket and a half to.
And he got a call from a pay bank the artwork seems to be kind of small do you want larger so I was able to turn it over him say you know what whatever you think is right.
But almost your marking you can’t do that it’s a little thing some of it you can’t so here’s what we’re going to talk about

the Cuz you have to know how to do this whether you’re hiring somebody or doing yourself you know how have to know how to do it so you know if they’re doing it right.

Yeah you know what I want to do is just you know there’s there’s no noise in the background. Yeah I can I can I’m sorry I can’t there’s there’s too many people that are are aren’t annoyed the place that don’t know how to mute themselves and we’re going to just after they’re sorry folks.

Just a little about aside the books we have $243.00 episodes of a pod cast that have been out who we are in the process of stripping how tall the music is we’re on a station that maybe ASCAP rule if they pay the ASCAP is so we’re stripping the music out we’re going to put those back up on our own on our own website we’ve changed how the pod cast is done in the next slide you’ll see why that involves you we’ve been in by invited interviewed by James Mellon Jack and Kevin Harrington they were A.B.C.’s Secret Millionaire and one of the 1st sharks on Shark Tank and every 6 months we do an event called the Small Business Break your bootcamp just finished September the next ones are in October.
Though we might do a one day version in December we’re looking at our calendar we did change our podcast into a view cast and it’s called The View couse dot com.
They’re not the hour long podcast we’re used to do they are simply. Roughly 10 minutes long and we interview people and at 7 minutes 21 seconds. We send the question we ask the same questions to every person that’s on it they’re designed to be Ace a promo piece for the person that’s on it they give some success tips they talk about why they’re great and they give an offer to people that want to meet with them so if you would like to be on that the information is on your screen you send us an email by saying you’d like to be on it we send you the questions you answer the questions and that’s how I figure out if you qualify I’ll give you the biggest way they get on the show.
Remember it’s a 7 minute 21 second interview and if we’re asking you 12 questions the answers have to be kind of brief We’ve gotten several people that answered gave us one full page answers for each of the 12 questions it was lovely to read but it’s not going to work for our format so the info is also in the chat so you have clickable links in the chat.

Entire marketing plan for a new business owners we have a marketing plan if you want to put it together with coaching online and we have private coaching programs that we offer so well let’s get ready for social You have to know your target before you start giving them messages and so we’re going to do just a little bit of marketing to one.
Every message that goes out should be speaking to somebody that is your target market. If you’ve been in any of our marketing events we call your target market area and I think we’ll get to that in a slide.
Your Harriet’s are watching social media in your job with your marketing is to be there before they even get there you have to know who they are where they are what platforms they play on so that when they search for you they are ready find you as an example we have a private Facebook group that’s political and for the political side that it’s on in the name is a is a term that is used to associate with folks of that bits of political ilk and one of the reasons we named it that is that we know it’s one of the search terms people use on Facebook to find groups that they can join.
And we’ve in the in the last year we’ve gone from like a couple 100 members to wherever a couple 1000 just because we changed a little bit of how we market it so your messages need to be talking to the person that is going to be seeing it and one of the way to do it is by understanding the demographics to board.
It’s just it’s just a little bit slow today so I hit a button and I think it isn’t working so I hit it again so hit it and then you know take a sentence again and again.
So often when our clients come to us. And we have this conversation right who is your ideal client they say everyone and we we could make an argument that it’s not everyone right we don’t all shop at Wal-Mart or at McDonald’s So it’s not everyone for even the big places so certainly not for the small business owner but we can play along so even if these 4 women could all benefit from your product or service your messaging to them is going to be different so for example let’s pretend for just a moment that these 4 women all need a car they live in a major metropolitan city they’re not using public transportation they only the car we’re ignoring the infant she is on a buying it so we’re going to ignore her.
They. They all don’t want the same car. They probably don’t want a car for the same reasons they’re probably not looking for the same benefits and features of a car so a good car sales person is going to message differently to each of these 4 women each of the 4 Harriet’s even though they might all need a car so the same thing is true for your products or services is quite possible these 4 women are actually 4 different areas for you but they’re different Harriot so their messaging for each one to attract them to your product or service is going to need to be different so what do I mean by messaging all of those posts that you or your social media manager are posting on social media those posts need to be different for each one now if if.
Someone were asking us you know let’s say they’re interviewing us they say hey we want you to handle our social media which we usually only do just for our private coaching clients vote so they did they said well what what kind of things should I post this is the discussion we would take them through.
Getting to know their business and somebody if somebody is going to be doing your social media they really need to invest some time with you to get to know your business better because even you might be a their stylist or a financial planner or a car salesman or whatever you do.
There are things that are going to set you apart and if they don’t figure that out your social media isn’t going to be as effective one of the things that they should also be playing with this is the psyche graphics what’s going on in their head people don’t buy for logical reasons they buy for motional reasons what are their goals dreams desires what makes them tick what is the pain that you’re saving them from because people will run away from pain faster them around toward pleasure.
So what problem are you solving and if you can talk about it to their inner mind their sub conscious that helps even more then using their linguistic programming helps a lot.
Here’s a visual example from a real world example. I had always wanted to have this as my traits of the Lucy psychiatric help vive sense. And we decided Alright it’s time we need news we need a trade show with what are we going to do and this this just popped into my head we said the plans some rough drawings and a picture of Lucy’s very like Eddie rip to all of our different client types we’ve got about 6 different types we call our Harriet all of our different areas and said What do you think of this and universally across the board they all said wow that’s awesome so we know that people that walking through a trade show when they see Lucy’s psychiatric help them move for marketing.
We know we’re going to get a positive reaction from our customer if somebody is not one of our potential customers they’re probably not going to get it and that’s cool because again not everybody does it but we know that if somebody sees our trade job with invisible why that’s so great or I so get it I so usery peanuts or we know they are one of our Harriet’s or they’re really good trading partners so that means they aren’t leaving our booth without at least one of our books.
We use our books as our brochures instead of 8 now by 11 sheet of paper which you fold that is really just talking about you. We give them books that have marketing help in them that’s about them yeah there’s contact info on the inside of course we’re not silly.
But it’s a way of them to get to know us better while they’re making a decision of coaching or who to refer for coaching So this is we know when we put this up we’re going to have our area it’s come to us they’re going to find us as opposed to us trying to get everybody walking through a trade show to step into a booth where they can marketing help if somebody works for is a you know a w 2 as it were.
They’re probably not going to get it as much as somebody that owns the company but that’s our target market or the small business owners make sense they all get that call.
So how are you capturing their attention what are these the posts that you’re putting up on social media. We would like you to think of them in fact look let’s expand that a little you should think about all of the messages that you send out as sidewalk signs and I have to flip out we have a brand new picture for this which you put in you know I have to flip the sign up we have a we have a better picture that goes there and so on.
When you’re walking through a mall remember doing a. You would see a sign and it helps you decide if you want to go in or not today only you know free coffee for Mall mothers of twins.
Show us a picture of your twins and you get a free coffee. Free coffee for dads who have a kid in college you know something that’s going to catch your attention make them walk in and raise their hand marketing is getting somebody to raise their hand and say yes I want more information and sales take over from there once they raise their hand we’re not going into sales mode right away with your any of your marketing tactics or your post sums on social media you’re giving them enough information to what have them want to raise their hand.
And then it’s now if you’re selling something on social media if you’re one of the folks that do that. Your post is getting their want to click the link which is going to bring them back to your website Our goal is to get them to your website where landing page that makes it easy easier for them to buy when they’re on your website or your landing page they’re not distracted by the next post that’s just what you know micro inches away and can get their attention so you think think in terms of sidewalk signs capture you don’t have to capture everybody you have to capture the right everybody’s some exams Well everybody get that you are talking about their cool I’m hoping this will all ring true so you get it you know the there have been lots of studies on why people are using social media the benefits and far and away it’s it’s increased exposure and increased traffic.
That means we’re trying to get into your Web site. Businesses that are trying to survive without a website are probably really new or. Need to get website your social media is just a tactic it’s a boomerang to get him back to where they’re going to be able to work with you easier.
But there are a lot of reasons that do it you know it is interesting improve improve sales isn’t one of is at the top 5 but it’s definitely there you know it’s your social media 1st word is social you’re creating a social base for your business and granted we’re talking we’re talking business social media as opposed to personal stuff but generate leads is there you know all of those things that make them who you are better.
You could look at this in terms of a funnel you know. People come in they work their way down the finally gets know you better and they buy at the end not everybody that finds you is going to buy from you so there are a few different marketing goals that you should have your social media.
So we’re going to go through the top 5 you might come up with others but usually it falls into one of these 5 communicate with your current clients right they kind of want to hear what’s happening in your business it might affect their hours it’s good if you’re posting on social media then your top of mind with them right it keeps you in mind with them develop new business right that might be the obvious one right now the main thing to remember is gone are the days when you know Hank would refer you to me and I would just Ok Right now we have to go look you up what’s happening on social media what are they blogging about those kinds of things why why are we going to Eileen versus Jane Doe next door right kind of see what kinds of things Eileen is posting so we get a flavor for that personality is that the right one for us to work with and make a decision Ok now I get it right can I add on to that of course we do we do another weapon on using video and one of the stats from.
That weapon are is that half the people who are making a decision are going to watch video testimonial videos and other kinds of promotional pieces. About you. Kind of you’ve got to have them.
Sort of. Hoops you want to be that trusted referral source so you want to be the person the person that your Harriet thinks of no matter what their issue is right so you may not be a plumber right Eileen Paddy Randy plumbers but they’re hairy it thinks of them 1st oh I need a plumber you know who’s going to know right Eileen pouty Randy right they’re going to know right so you want to be that trusted referral source and some of that is just being in business for a little while and having a road next.
One of the hardest things we had to rebuild when we moved from Los Angeles to Sedona was our business rolodex you know in l.a. if you need something oh yeah I just you know here’s 3.
When you come to a different area you’ve got to rebuild that and it’s taken a couple years it took a couple years for us to get there you mean you you all own a small business so you’ve learned things about running a business that are useful to others even that may not be in your niche so in the dentist example right you make you learn things that have nothing to do with being a dentist is about running a business especially if your Harriet is also a small business owner so share those tips show those those things that you’ve learned you know you’ll see I’m going to flash forward just a little bit now and come back but it’s relevant to this tip is.
Some of your posts need to be a little personal right not just business business business and one of the ways that you can show your personality on your business page is to share a business tip Hey I just remembered this was just reminded to me how important this particular business thing is it’s just it shows a little bit of a little bit of vulnerability not not a huge Right you’re not really putting yourself out there a whole lot but a little bit of a little bit early so that your Harry goes oh I love that the person is sharing a little bit of Oh yeah I was just reminded of this fabulous thing I should be doing now we’re going to ask a favor by the way if you love about your business to please go like our Facebook page and you know Instagram and all the other such but our if you go to you off creative on Facebook we post new business tips every day sometimes 3 a day our blogs get you know links to our blogs or in fact if you want to see how you might want to run your.
Social media patriot business go take a look at our pages because you’ll get a lot of tips on how to do that just by looking look and see what we do in all our Lee Yeah but please go like our page would appreciate that.
By the way yes sweetie here from a conversation this morning one of the things that I have made as a a decision for Mark for what I want to do I want to add.
Building up the number of subscribers on You Tube to our page. It hasn’t been a thing for us you know and it just means doing more videos yet it’s just the thing that kind of want to do Ok so you can find us on you too if you know if creative Do me a favor subscribe to you you can find us really on any channel if you’re lookin we are really consistent if you look for you are creative you’ll find us on any whatever your favorite social media channel is and if you’re deciding what what platforms to be on you should be as consistent as possible use the same name on all of them.
You know if you’re if you’re just starting with social media and you don’t have all your pages you might want to go to name check here I’ll put that in here it’s general but it’s a weird way of spelling it name c h k dot com.
And you can check to see if the name you want to use is available it’s not 100 percent foolproof but it’ll give you a start if you’ve see it while half of them don’t have my name availability might want to pick a different name the reason it’s not foolproof is because different channels have different character counts and it just doesn’t always translate from one to the other so it’s not foolproof but it is pretty darn good so we do other than shooting blind so we’ve just been sharing business tests yes go on to the 5th with The Last of Us is a little bit of amusement if you can do any of those 4 things with a little bit of humor.
You’re hearing it’s going to be more attracted to you because you know especially right now look around the climate you know that people are they’re looking for just a little a reason that Viggle in chuckle and grin so I don’t think given that you know we try and use fun some fun graphics for our stuff back we’ll use cartoons for our sometimes by the way there is a number sex money just you know that is the goal of all percent of our new business comes from people who found us on Facebook.
You know it’s a. And it’s not all finding our business page it’s from our personal pages developing the social part of it the relationships and then finally asking what do you guys do oh well we’re all this coaches.
So let’s cut to the chase honestly if you just have really cute cats or dogs or children or grandchildren grandchild just just post those up and you have to do it another thing it all really.
I have a picture of one of our cats that was sitting in the shower taking a cat bath and every time I post that 22nd video it gets to 3400 likes comments and I really am like you know I just posted some deep inner feelings and thoughts and got crickets in my damn cat got lots of so let’s see who we have who is up there that’s Fenway that’s Muki and test and test the fact that the one cat that’s in the room right now isn’t up their desk is sitting up pesky is sitting to my left on a on one of those sweatshirt.
So what are the different kind of posts your set your social media manager is going to use you might ask. You might. So the 1st one is I mean.
And these are in no particular order actually. Imeem is that square that you see on the right as an image with words on it that’s I mean in social media terms that’s mean yes if you go to the dictionary you’re going to get some completely different but trust me for social media that’s what it means a number to a question so you might remember back to your middle school and high school English they would say right ask questions to to get conversation with the same thing is true on social media remember that social media is really social media so ask questions get your audience involved the trick with asking questions though typically your audience might be different but typically it’s something easy you know yes no blue green true false right something that’s relatively easy remember that most people are going through social media they’re scrolling quickly just to take a break from whatever it was that they were doing before and need to do next they’re not usually looking to pontificate in long lengthy answers so you know something quick and easy.
This will come up again so we’re going we’ll talk some more about why you want to get engagement. And how that leads to business or a cop again you know on my personal page I ask a question every night it’s the Ok the face bookers question I’ve been doing it for 10 years.
And the whole purpose is to generate engagement on my personal page so that when I do something business wise more people are seeing. You know in fact last night were 205 likes 201 comments and 20 shares well known.
And and this morning in fact less than an hour ago I posted what television show do you think is or was overrated and there’s already a dozen comments so much so that all that will have if you’re 60 by the end of the day.
Text so that one is probably just text right that’s just right this is how we all got sort of a social media we just started typing it just text so that’s still certainly viable and by the way so you have them all the Real Housewives be a printer Finding Bigfoot The Simpsons friends there’s a lot of various ones that are here so.
Ok and video right more and more and more video on every social media platform every platform is making it easier and easier to do video because more people want to consume their social media via video and and this is a really important point so right now.
Even if somebody is running your social media for you if you’re if you’re going to use video you have to store the video your the brand we we know that most the people that watch our webinars your small business owners your your the your the main person you might have some who is the you’re the brand you know when people think a big your company name may think of you so you’re going to be in those videos even if you have somebody doing your social media for you important point links we’re going to talk about some of the things to post and some of those things are your blog that you’re sharing on social media those are links because you’re not going to post the whole blog to your social media you’re going to post a snippet with an image that’s going to link back to your website where they’re going actually going to read the blog posts so you know whether it’s your article or someone else’s article those are links and by all means if you have pictures with famous people then yeah you’re you’re Harriet wants to see that So yes it’s do that yep that’s us with Superman and that’s me with a superwoman.
Wow Leeza Gibbons is just awesome she’s she’s just a spectacular business person and a wonderful human being and. I took a 2 day seminar from her shoes shoes just and mazing Lee awesome so that trooper.
And I got to crash a little bit so. What should a social media manager do for you they should promise to make you hugely rich. Maybe not no.
Maybe they wouldn’t promise that would be nice if it happens but most often what we hear when somebody is going to do this it’s yeah I think I just hired this 20 something and I’m just going to put them in charge of it that’s cool yes most most millennial most you know Z’s most they know more than Boomers and you know and.
Your next gen x. ers You know we’re Jenna x. we get forgotten all your for your completely forgot to go from rumor to Millennium and all the gen x. is just a hey what I want my shop What are your your a middle child or you’re the middle child.
In with us yet you’re grouping with yeah which is fine for me it’s fine I do typically relate more with them are all huge an exorcist rock on rock.
They’re one of the problems with them so I understand that what’s going on in the average you know 20 something brain might be a little different and I will share this in that one of our clients this is now a year and a half ago.
One of our clients had a a tween ager running his social media and when you see Sharon and I watching television in the evening. We have our you know I’m on a couch Sharon’s I love seeing we’ve got our laptops open because we’re doing stuff while we watch.
Can’t watch just watch it and I’ll send more of that to current hand corner of my screen paying their education that are one of our clients pages posted something baby just post something on No I don’t know but Ok Click oh my goodness it seems that Susie who is an editor on our client’s page had just been broken up with by Billy names changed to protect the innocent and says he only had a 100 or so friends on Facebook in our client had several 1000 likes on his you know followers on his page so she was going to let the world know that Billy was a dork was a not a nice person.
So in order screenshot delete post. Go to ministers take her off why offline on a page number 4 was text the client. Just one of us you know your page this got posted on your page phone rings this wasn’t you know at that point oh my god what do I do we’ve already taken it down we’ve already taken her off is ministration you know the moderator you’re all good you just need to have a conversation with her tomorrow.
And Susie the next day was allowed to find other opportunities in the world so just just know that from our experience that is the sort of thing now we’ve we’ve also had it happen where a person that was not a tween ager.
Was the admin you know he was in his younger than say forty’s I was going to say was the admin for a client’s page and they let him go.
But on Scott Yeah they did ask us on this one. They fired him on the elevator down from the 6th floor he was an admin of their page he locked them out and they no longer have that social media page they’ve still they still haven’t got back also so if you’re going to hire somebody do this.
Moderator or editor only they cannot be an at and admin because if you make them into admitting your page it’s like handing the keys your car and saying here enjoy it for the weekend Dorie the insurance is not except you don’t have insurance on your page.
So know which platforms your clients use That’s number that’s one of the important ones do they know do they have a idea of your industry and where your Harriet’s are playing.
They have a really good working knowledge of those platforms you know now Sharon and I split it up and in our world I do most the Facebook stuff and and a little bit of everything else and Sharon does the thing else because she’s really good at this and are they going to update you on change in those platforms I would hope it’s amazing how many conversations we have that begin with the words Hey babe did you just see what happened with you know I thought I’m a good platform I noticed something on Facebook the other day is like Babe is this happening on your page it’s like oh my god it is we notice something and it to most of you it’s a little thing but for of for business pages it’s kind of important and oh that just happened I’ll be darned well that’s good.
You should get those no you’re going to get one of those at least one a month you’re going to you should just know how often does it happen if you’re on a college 2 or 3 platforms you’re going to have at least one thing a month happen on one of the platforms a change of some sort.
You know Facebook right now is going through the a lot of chairs are changing the main look at it it’s like Man people are just. You know they’re also changing the interface between Facebook and Instagram as well I mean they’re making quite a few changes so there’s lots of stuff going on are they going to set a daily schedule for your social media posts postings inappropriate Now please use my wording daily the reason the word daily is there is that daily is how often your page needs to be updated we’ve seen a lot of proposals from social media people that say we will post up to 3 times a week on your page No the daily Well here’s the thing if you agree that that’s fine if they’re posting only 3 times a week that’s fine but you need to then supplement the rest you can’t just hand over the keys to go Ok Well they’re handling it I’m out you’re not out if they’re only doing it 3 times a week that’s not enough what about every other day of the week yeah.
They have to keep you updated on what’s going to be posted when we do postings for our clients most of what we do will do a lot of means because it’s just easier and will will create the artwork and here’s here the next 25 will put them in a p.d.f. and say here’s the next 25.
Take a look at you know which ones you don’t like which ones do you like do you really need to talk about any of them and there’s always you know one or 2 that help let’s tweak this so let’s make that you know we get really good really quickly knowing their voice which they have to get you know your your social media person is get really good at knowing your voice very quickly.

Ok that’s great Those are fabulous ego boost of hysterics but they don’t they don’t get you they don’t get dollars right I can’t take those views in likes of the grocery store and say you know hey I need groceries at that’s not going to happen and if you found a grocery store that will do that then please share with us now we’re really happy that yeah really.
So that’s what we focus on right we focus on being able to to work with you to be able to convert you know I could think of those words to opt engine calls write those things that then you can convert to an actual sale Buzan like so they’re nice and there are some posts that you want that right that’s why the humor that’s why the those engagements are important because you do want those views and likes but you can’t stop with using likes you’ve got to be able to convert that to sales and if your social media manager isn’t promising to help you with that then that’s something right social media manager.

So one of the things is not the drama that’s happening in your relationship right keep keep all the good stuff you can put out there but if there’s negativity and drama keep it all social media call your best friends same thing with politics right the goal was social media is to keep your funnel wide so if you have a politics you’re going to narrow your finalizer begin be some people that won’t agree with you so you’re going to narrow your funnel Why do that now there are some people that are on this on this sort of single Gee thanks I’ve seen your page Yeah well we’ll get to that well those are the rules that will tell you the exceptions Hausa number 3 same thing with religion right you’re not going to change my view I’m not going to change yours by posting all you’re going to do is narrow the funnel so don’t do it.
If you have a major sports team if you’re a fan of a major sports team that has a major rival then we won’t post about that either right same thing right if it was that other sports teams fans in less you think those dollars don’t spend the same don’t narrow your funnel by talking about it it’s just it’s just not relevant he Dodger fans did you know that San Francisco Giants fans money spends exactly the same and New York Yankee money spends the same as Boston Red Sox money and u.s.c. and u.c.l.a. money spend the same no matter which college they went to.
Actually in Arizona it’s Arizona State and University of Arizona Oh my goodness I think there is more. Tension between those 2 schools and there is u.s.c. and u.c.l.a. in l.a. It’s amazing what we’ve we’ve seen now I went to San Diego State.
Nobody ever cares go as tax. And if you’re on a sports team right or your kids or grandkids are on sports teams and by all means post about that we want to see that we like to see the personal side that’s not we’re talking about what a major sports team you have a big rivalry right so basically it comes down to negativity if anyone is going to see your post as negative if you think you know take if you post it or if you type it and you think wait wait is someone going to see this is negative if so delete that post don’t post it call your best friends that this happens a lot with.
You got you where you were done wrong by a let’s just say your cable company or a restaurant delivered to your house and they forgot you know the song.
And you put up some scathing post how could they forget the song that they forget you know the paper. There are people that will see those quote reviews unquote and say oh my goodness if I do business with them and something weird happens what are they going to say about me so where that.
Now the exception right because there are people that are friends with Hank and you know that there are exceptions so that the exception is if it’s the hill you’re willing to die on if that opposing view whatever that is politics religion sports whatever it is it’s not opposing view is there you don’t think the money actually does the same you’ve this is your niche I’ve staked out my niche put it put a stake in the ground this is it then by all means post about it then let your niche be known that this is this is who you’re here it is this is who you’re talking to police find all we’re suggesting to you is that you or we’re recommending is stronger than a suggestion we’re recommending that you make those decisions strategically as opposed to reacting so don’t just post based on the reaction on something you read or heard make a city just decision type it out and think about this Ok wait before I hit post could anyone see this is negative in my narrowing my final unnecessarily or is this a good business decision if it’s good then go ahead and post if it’s not been deleted and now go frail with a mirror your best friend or call Sharon to come.
Or if you look if you look at the personality of my personal page and then you look at our business may just see the difference. None of this ever ever gets on of the business page like ever.
Now I do know a. A life coach who. Talks about his business from a religious point of view it’s it’s you know based on religious teachings having talked Yeah and said Which religion and every Sunday that narrows it down he comes back from his place of worship and posts what was the good word of the day that was shared in his particular place of worship.
And every time I see it it’s always positive and I will type the word Amen it doesn’t mean I’m going to switch religions but it does think I am saying Hey thanks it was a positive thing I appreciate it but just know that no matter what you post.
People can’t always see sarcasm or the subtlety of how you say things so just watch that I’ve got I’ve gotten in trouble for all of these except the top one because I’m married to the perfect woman so you know life’s great but I got in trouble for all of them.
Here to actual cat selfies if you’re not sure how to do that you hold your camera. That’s what your dogs do you know by the way you get a camera at a and you let the button get close to them and eventually they’re going to sniff the button and you’ll get a pet selfie Tessie is not good at getting making itself but while he was and was then we they both were then way was they both were there we go wow wow how do you really think if you do it right it’s all you need chatted on this briefly but you know according to The Beatles Love Is All You Need that’s that’s really the only place where that comes into play it isn’t all you need there have to be other platforms other ways of marketing because understand that this is rental space your platform you don’t own it you don’t own your profile.

A platform could go away wall really well yeah Google plus disappeared Google decided Google plus is like the one thing in our portfolio of businesses that isn’t making us any money and nobody’s on it anyway so why don’t we get rid of it so if Google can take down a platform and even could go check Facebook could have glitches it happens Twitter this year had glitches Well if all you’re doing is social media then you’re you’re markings out of business you’ve got to have backups and ways that you’re doing things and by the way this isn’t how Hank meant that but it did prompt me to remember to tell you that every social media channel has a way to back it up because they do go away right Google plus went away and then they warned you lots of times ahead of time back it up back it up back it up and no we’re not going to back it up because they change so ask a legal right how do I back up Facebook how do I back up my Instagram How do I back up my You Tube channel they they change them to just ask and since I see a couple of our private coaching clients around there it will do it for you if you don’t have to ask the we’ll do it for you.
So. Social media is is just one other social media type I mean to tell you one other marketing tactic might it’s taking what you are already doing offline and being social and now you’re bringing it online and it’s how you use it and how it’s best use kind of depends on what your marketing goals are you know let’s say that that this is your business your roof is a business.
And they delivered you to well actually it’s for this in other words I started that analogy incorrectly caca sorry really let’s say that you had empty lot and you’re putting a house on there and the company brought you your dilute your delivery to your roof 1st.
They have brought the roof took it off the truck sitting there suspended by a crank. It could happen it happened in the house I’m a lot late right now there as they deliver the roof and they had to the crane was there for a couple days while they put the walls underneath it how many walls does it take for that roof is going to be stable 123 do you need the interior walls the more walls you have the more stable it’s going to be so if you’re the roof is your business he said.
Thing has said. How many different marketing tactics are you going to use you know those are the walls that keep your business supported Dan Kennedy the more ways you market the more successful you’ll be because you have more opportunities for people your potential clients to see you in various places it’s the concept of being everywhere which is why retargeting pixels are amazing to me one of my favorite things in the world on on the Internet.

This is a spreadsheet sort of how we show the different things we use to market our business you know some or you’ll recognize some of your tech when we speak out of town we bring Sedona Red Rocks with us and we give them to people that come to our events because it’s a way of reinforcing Yes we live in beautiful Sedona the place of the Red Rocks and that if you’re a private coaching client yes you can come to Sedona too and have your business pay for your vacation while you come and build your business is that also so that’s it’s a marketing tactic it’s just something we use we go through them every quarter or so Ok which ones are working which way and are not we grade them is completely subjective and we honestly some of the we we have chosen to make it a subjective as opposed to.
How much business each of them pulls in it’s one of the variables that goes into the discussion Yeah but not the only one Yeah because there’s some stuff we do just because we like it will do.
Free seminars for almost any nonprofit just because it’s our give back so great a will that we go and you know I think there probably says Chambers of Commerce we look at each individual chamber you know which ones of the of the 6 or 7 were in.
The one at the bottom at the end of the year as far as bringing in business goes by we know which one is going bye bye next and we know which chamber will probably join instead of or for which one you doesn’t you yeah.
A lot of words already which platform you use doesn’t matter just use when all your friends are on well that’s great if your friends mirror your customer base but only if but if your friends aren’t Look use our example.
Most of our friends are business owners Well Ok I don’t care what social media platforms are there on I will put 2 different pictures up on social media and say which of these 2 pictures do you like best and the only answers I will pay attention to are the people that that ad is going to go to you know if this if were journey decide on for an ad that’s going to go to.
Women 40 plus that own a business that are college educated that you know and will get are a good picture I don’t care what Bob The attorney writes his sarcastic comment gets ignored Sorry Bob.

If your client is let’s say you know on the younger and well you probably want to get good at Snap Chat and picked up. If your client is in the older demographic snapback Snap Chat and tick tock really not as important you know Facebook.

Go back 5 years and say I want to get paid by Pay Pal people look at you funny you know what So professional the Pay Pal Pay Pal got their act together and and their platform for taking payments now is really wonderful they’re awesome but they used to not be so perception their perceptions did change number 5 when you post doesn’t matter yet that’s.
The way we approve of so. You know whatever concept doesn’t work. In our. You know you talk about this from and I want to find that there’s a page and went on and on that Ok.
Typically what we’re seeing during this covert time is most people are on social media every channel this is not Facebook specific not not linked in specific all of the channels they seem to be on at about 10 am right that’s probably know they’ve got not they’ve done a little bit of work they’re taking a break and now they’re there on social media typically So if you’re just starting out right now or you’re see you’re changing your revamping what you’re doing then we would say post around 10 am we would actually say post at like $950.00 so that when they go want 10 your post is there.
And do that for a month and then look at your insights your statistics on every business page on every social media channel there are statistics and most of them will tell you what time of day your audience is looking at your stuff and then you may then need to tweak so let me you may need to see that oh well maybe in general it’s a 10 but my audience actually doesn’t go until after the lunch break it’s $1230.00 but whatever right so you may need to change but again we would say figure out what that time is and then post like 10 minutes before they usually go on so that when they go on your post is there so I’m not sure if you’re going to be able to see this but I’m going to I’m going to try.
And yes Ok so last $28.00 days this shows the gauge level just a white screen. So it’s a little easier to see the bars but you just see blue bars just 7 bars those are 7 days that is telling me of that what this tells me because going to work it’s.
Still December’s. On Mon now to look at small man you see the 7 bars we’re pretty even if far as which days of that we get the most attention but if I break it into every day this is the Ok Saturday you will see that toward the end of the day 56 pm this is the most active so the dark blue is the most active because we can’t see the time we just see dark versus light Friday darker toward the end of the day Thursday same day so what this is telling me.
Wednesday as well and it’s the same just awesome I checked. So here’s here’s what this tells me and I’m going to hold back the curtain on this for you because we own the page the only this is a group yet as a group Ok because we own the group.
The only ads that anyone is ever going to really see would be for us offering a free ticket to our marking bootcamp but if anyone or any member wants to post something it promotes their business it just doesn’t get on to the page sorry you know our group our group we moderate it it’s us you know you don’t like it go start your own group so if I want to put something on the page where I want to make sure that people see then I want to post it sometime around Monday at 4 because that then between 4 and 6 activity goes out or Tuesday at 6 because activities at 78 is the best Wednesday same kind of thing late in the day 5 o’clock or so because and back.
I really want Wednesday at 6 o’clock because for that lit those late you know the Rachel Maddow hours are really almost the busiest same with Thursday so I can use the insights that Facebook give me gives to me God Friday it’s all afternoon and they just he’s using Facebook that’s where that group is but it’s the same on every platform on a business page right not on your personal profile but on your business page and not they don’t all show that that well of ours necessarily so I don’t want to lead you astray and say that but they all do show insights that will give you information on the best time may not be time of day it may be day the week.
Time suppost Yeah we also know. This shows the makeup of the men or to men versus women it is 60 all we see is a Blue Star half circle 3 percent women interesting are the messages that we create our good be generated to where women and age wise.
We are we are nothing if the $5.00 Yep so. Let me again pull back the curtain and tell you how we use the steps. One of our Harriet’s is a business owner 50 plus that is not ready to retire but sees all this online stuff as weird or difficult well overwhelming so the that Harriet for us kind of mirrors who’s on our page you know who’s on that group so that is what we would talk about in our business we wouldn’t talk about necessarily Do you have a new business we have a marketing plan for that specifically it will Yeah but we’re not that’s not that right off the proud we are talk about it there.
Does this make sense are does do you hear you know to this ringing true because this is really important in tar targeting your market and targeting your message is so important to putting it where the right eyeballs are and the social media platforms tell you who’s there in fact.

This is what’s going on every minute on the Internet it’s it’s amazing that any of our posts any of us get seen with all of the stuff that goes on in the Internet and things you can look at you know it’s it’s terabytes and terabytes every minute you know You Tube alone it’s thousands of videos there there’s a Web site that has kept the other day that was it’s a global counter and it just count the number of tweets and and that ticker was just trying to teach just job my god amazing and just overwhelming.
Number 6 what other people post doesn’t matter oh my goodness yes it does part of what they should be doing for you is giving unit alue ation what your competitors are doing.
Whether they’re vocal competitors or or somewhere in a city that that demographically is similar to yours we look at what other people post are there are there really great ideas out there that we can tweak and make our own or make it better we look all the time focused in custom when it comes to customer service you may have noticed that more and more customer service is moving to social media.
You’re less likely to hear good or bad directly it’s more likely that your your Harriet is posting on social media and so we would recommend it I mean you you can do what m.x. and Hilton and so many other big companies do and set up a whole separate social media channel just for that that’s a little bit overwhelming for most small business owners so all going to say is that a Google alert and you you can you can gauge it you can set it there’s a word I missing for you it’ll give you a notification for how often you get those emails you can send it to either right away which we would say for your name in your business you want it right away as soon as Google indexes that there someone has said something about your you personally or your business you want to know right now because you want to be able to nip that in the butt but if you’re also looking at your biggest competitor right I want to know where my biggest competitor gets mentioned or I want to know when my favorite client gets mentioned or the the big whale that I want to I want to become my next favorite right that maybe you don’t even know that right away you could do end of the day write some e-mail with all of those at the end of the day so you can targeted this how often so set up a Google Alert for your name your business name your favorite clients your biggest competitors and those big fish that you want to land and if you don’t know how to set up a Google alert the easiest thing to do is to us Will.

See fight is all the way around the slide is all the way with the Ok so business pages and personal profiles right so your personal profile 80 percent of the time it’s going to be personal again not drama not religion not call it right no but something personal All right maybe you’re trying a new recipe you have a new pet you your cat is doing something really particularly cute Sharon my annoying Sharon made a really cool breakfast this morning I got a picture of it that I’m going to post later right so it’s something something personal and then 20 percent so 2 out of 10 posts are business something that you’ve posted on your business page that you share back to your personal profile Why do you do that because remember we said way back at the beginning of this interactive that you you want to be amusing but the more of those kinds of posts that you can do business tips and referrals and those things you can do and be an amusing while you do it the more engagement you’re going to get well why do you want that you want that so that 2 out of the 10 times that you actually are talking about business your followers are going to see them Ok so they’re not wondering what do you do right like liking said we have people that say you know I’ve been following you what do you do well.
You know our our offline conversation is are we not sharing often enough what we do I thought we was like doing that always like so sometimes does it feel like we’re doing all the time right 2 out of 10 can sometimes be what you’re not you’re not because they don’t sing it so 2 out of 10 business on the business page it’s completely flipped 80 percent so a to 10 is business right here’s the latest blog post here’s a new product here’s an interactive we’re doing here’s here’s here’s here’s And then to have a tennis personal again not drama not politics right it could be you know what we took a lunch break today we took a new hike we try to trail we we try to new recipe.
Right because many of us are still working at home and you know we’re still trying stuff even though it’s in the middle of the work day so we try something new something personal something that shows that there’s a person behind this small business it’s not a bot that’s posting it’s not your social media manager that’s running it there’s actually a person there because when your Harriet is trying to decide do I hire Patti or Wendy or I mean why do I know which one of those 3 are in my hiring verses some someone that claims to be their direct competitor Well the way I know is because I see some of those personal posts and I get a flavor for who that person is and it resonates we don’t resonate with everyone that’s Ok you couldn’t handle all of the business anyway no no worries you want to handle those people that resonate with you that you get them and they get you and how do we know that we know that from those personal posts and as you’re making those personal posts you might see something on your personal profile that you want to share on your business page but don’t share it like you share business to personal member was talking about those insights right those statistics that are on your business pages you only get those on your business page you don’t get them on your personal profile So here’s the thing if you take that business post from your business page and you share it to your personal profile and I see it and I comment on your personal profile it counts in those statistics on your business page but if you do the other way around if I’m on your business page and you’ve shared a personal post from your personal profile to your business page it doesn’t count there are no insights on your personal profile and that’s actually a personal post so it doesn’t count and it’s just it’s kind of like it’s invisible as far as a to 6 are concerned so don’t do that instead if you have something posted on your personal profile and you think oh that’s a great 2 out of 10 on my business page just post it separately don’t share it from personal just a upload it separately and there were questions in the chat that I missed that I was talking to see this just said I just posted a picture which Sharon delivered to my desk is what restaurants last liberty chef just live with this tasty brunch to my desk so I let people you know.
Answer that for a while so other other ideas for personal posts you know maybe you took a lunch break and you took a new walk maybe you read some trashy novel write fiction I mean write it just it’s not you know wasn’t business related it was some fiction maybe you you read an article not not a business article right you maybe you you know I had I was following a rabbit hole and I happened upon an article in People and I read about you know I don’t know George Clooney is new here I don’t know whatever but write something that shows something about your personality Ok.
What we’re really reminding you to do on your own social media and any social media managers got to understand that the term social media is now kind of like Kleenex or aspirin aspirin used to be a brand name now it’s just a generic thing.
Social. What’s the word mean you know generating relationships it’s the how human beings are relating So it’s a social it is a social media but there still has to be your personality behind it and that’s really what’s most important so it’s not exactly what he said I mean is exactly the answer to your question.
And I start to question and I’m sorry that I wasn’t clear enough because I thought I said it so the reason that you’re posting to what extend that are personal is it gives your Harriet a chance to get to know you as a person why am I choosing Eileen versus Jane next door that also talks about nutrition right there’s something about Eileen that speaks to me as those 2 out of 10 I can get nutrition information from a bazillion places I could google all sorts of things about nutrition but the reason I chose Eileen is because every now and then she posts something that gives me an insight into her person what she’s thinking what she’s feeling what’s attracting her and that resonates with me I get it she gets me I get her I’m going to continue to follow Eileen awesome and I’m going to you can go now thank you.

So we just learned a whole bunch of ways in your past social media myths and what your manager should be doing the picture of the unicorn is there for those that are curious is that.
A marketing plan a social media plan a social media page it’s just like a unicorn. There’s no such thing as a completed plan there’s no such thing as a as a finished social media page or a finished website there are always it’s always an evolution don’t think because it’s up there you’re ready to go.

That had sat at number 12 or 11 for 3 years we got that idea like really years ago and in the meantime we’ve published 2 different books but now is the time to get that book done so now we mention it that we’re looking for people that want to be the co-authors of a bestselling book on working together that they’re going to be able to use to attract business we’ll take about 10 of them were look we are actively looking for people that want to be part of that it’ll be the it’s the easiest marketing tool that that’s going to be the most not a good for you ever seen.
But we weren’t talking about a year ago because it wasn’t important but now it is so now we’re bringing it up why again is that list is going to be flexible and as things get crossed out things will become more important but what are the 3 most important while that’s what you’re going to do in the next quarter and then what’s the one what’s the one thing you need to do right now now number one here’s an interesting goal for those of you that are goal oriented you might want to pick something that’s really easy and make that number one and make the real number one number 2 so that you can cross something off your list really right away I’m that way.

We do this because half of our business comes from people that went to boot camp that say I know somebody that you can help and they refer us to their friends and neighbors and such that own business small businesses but we teach you how to avoid the biggest mistakes people make.

There are tons of mean generators work to do a google search for free mean generators and there’s Han’s of them. And it’s going to come down to which one you know which one you like using the most.
I’ll give you some hints. If you’re going to use photos if at all possible make sure you own the photo and you took it you know if we use if we do I mean that has some cat code or cat thing it’s a picture of our cats we don’t we don’t like the uses much we try to avoid the use of stock photos and because you could use it and other people can use it and and it always goes into their head up that looks like a stock photo they have the thought as opposed to that must be their dog.
You know so. That’s that’s a tip I can give you make sure that your headline is the most is the most important part as opposed to putting your logo at the top make sure that your headlines at the top if it captures their attention the look to see where it came from that’s and your logo goes at the bottom that I hope that helps Tiger.

It just has to be important enough to you you know we all we have time for all sorts of things so you know the same post that you would post a Facebook you can post to Instagram the you can on google my business on Linked In it so it’s and there are tools that you can use that will that will help you if you need a tool that’s going to do all do them all we have a really inexpensive tool that we’re using.

If you’re going to use. An app that posts for you. Make sure it’s an out we’ve used one for like 8 years and the reason I keep using it is that I can post something now and I can have it set to post again and again and again.
Most apps don’t do that. So it’s it’s. Use is one that works for Facebook and Twitter I now use one that goes for all of them and we’re actually switching from a tool I’m using to another tool.
